Visa-free entry and visas on arrival are available to Sierra Leonean passport holders in countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Bolivia, Senegal, and Iran. Sierra Leonean passport holders, on the other hand, need a visa to enter 166 countries throughout the world, including Thailand, Turkey, Russia, the United States, and the European Union as a whole. Because of the high visa requirement, the mobility score is low, and trip preparations are extensive.
The number of countries Sierra Leone passport holders can enter without a visa (i.e. visa-free countries) and those Sierra Leone passport holders can enter by obtaining a visa on arrival (i.e. visa-on-arrival countries) or an electronic travel authorization is added up to determine the Sierra Leone passport ranking relative to other global passports (eTA). There are now 43 visa-free countries for Sierra Leone passport holders, 20 visa-on-arrival countries for Sierra Leone passport holders, and 0 eTA destinations. Sierra Leone passport holders can enter a total of 63 countries without a visa, via a visa on arrival, or using an eTA.
